The original Shiloh Church was built approximately four miles west of Marion located off US Highway 76 on the Springville Road. In 1832 Owen Herring presented some property known as Thomas' Graveyard which contained a small pond as a site for the burial of the dead for the Shiloh congregation. On July 12, 1851 F.A. Miles deeded the property on the west side of the pond to the trustees of Shiloh--S.J. White, Owen Herring, David Monroe, and Elias Wiggins, for the purpose of erecting a house of worship. At that time it would be called the Methodist Episcopal Congregation at Shiloh. The original Shiloh church building was then dismantled and the materials moved by wagons to the new location where it was rebuilt. That church building remained in operation until 1939. Ensuing differences with the South Carolina Methodist Conference led to the closing of the church building. Many members began worshiping in the near by Cedar Grove School. In 1941, H.M. Perritt, Sr., deeded the present site structure to three trustees and the congregation. The old wooden structure was then torn down and a new structure built between 1942-43. The pews from the old building were moved into the new one. The congregation joined the South Carolina Methodist Conference in 1956 and became a member of the Centenary Charge. An educational building was added in 1961 and the sanctuary's stained glass windows were given by Shiloh families in 1965. In 1968 Shiloh became a single station church but problems caused the congregation to withdraw from the Methodist Conference that same year.
Later, in 1972 a church parsonage was built west of the church on additional land donated by Ida Mae Perritt. In 1978 Jollie Hinds donated the steeple to the church. After having withdrawn from the South Carolina United Methodist Church Conference in 1968, Shiloh voted to rejoin it at the yearly State Conference in June of 1981.
